Support for Diagnosis: Diagnostic case management

The Diagnostic window allows users to save and load diagnostic cases that they worked on using the model.

Shown below is a snapshot of the Diagnostic window:

The Case Library button on the top left corner can be used to either create, open or save a case library. Clicking on the button will display the following menu:

The New Case Library command is used to create a new case library. It will open a standard Save file dialog box, as shown below:

The Open Case Library command is used to open an existing case library. It will open a standard Open File dialog box which can be used to select the case library to open. Case libraries in Genie are saved as files with extension .xscl.

Each case library can contain multiple cases. Generally one case library is created for every network, and different cases for the network are saved within that case library. but you are free to organize your cases as you wish. You may consider a case library as a folder within which you can group your case files.

Saving a case

A saved case will include the case name, network used, entropy/cost ratio details, evidences, pursued faults, and an open ended comment.

The case name and open-ended comment are typed when saving a case. The other properties are automatically included based on the current state of the session. If the case being saved has already been saved under a certain name, for example Model 1, the user can save it under a different name, for example Model 1.1.

To save a case, you should have a case library open. If a case library isn't open, then, you can create a new case library using the Case Library button.

After opening a case library, the save button will become active. Click on the Save button to save the case within the currently open case library. It will open the following dialog box:

Enter a descriptive name for the case and a comment if needed and click OK to save the case. You may also click Cancel to abort the operation.

Loading a case

To load a particular case. you need to open that case's case library. You can open a case library using the Case Library button.

Once a case library opens, GeNIe populates the Cases drop down list with the cases stored within the case library.
