Copying and pasting GeNIe models across applications
Windows Clipboard supports multiple formats. GeNIe stores data simultaneously in three formats:
- . Native GeNIe format for cut/copy/paste between models
- . Standard text - names of selected nodes and comments
- . Standard bitmap - contains selected objects
Each time you invoke Copy or Cut, data in all three formats are sent to the clipboard; there are no special keys except standard Ctrl+C. All you need to do is select 'Paste special' from the 'Edit' menu in the target program (e.g., in Word or PowerPoint). This should bring the dialog box with all format names. Plain 'Paste' command does different things in different programs - it pastes data as text into Word by default.
To get complete model as a bitmap picture, First select all elements in the model using Ctrl+A. Then use Ctrl+C to copy the model to the clipboard.
Then open the program in which you want to paste the model image [ e.g. Adobe Photoshop / MS Word ]. Use Paste Special/Bitmap in Word. If you use Phote Editor [ or any graphics editing program ] for example (to change bitmap to jpg), Paste will paste the model image by default.
Note: You can paste nodes cut/copied to the clipboard into any graphic editing program also.
Delete
The Delete command deletes the currently selected element. The element can be an arc, node or submodel or can be multiple selections of elements too. Use this command carefully. Incase you delete any element by mistake just reload the file without saving it. However you may lose valid work on the model since your last save.
Find
The Find Command allows to find a node by its identifier or by its name. Choosing the Find command invokes the following dialog box:
The Find command finds the specified text string in the names and identifiers of all elements of the models and submodels. It will also search within Annotations if the Look in annotations checkbox is checked. Match whole word only and Match case flags allow for customizing the search.
After searching the models if it finds any matches , they are displayed in the dialog box and the Find button changes into a Locate Button. Pressing the Locate button locates the selected node in the list and flashes it in the Graph view. You can also locate a node by double clicking on its name in the list.
