Estimated Time:

At the end of the tutorial you will be able to:

  • Exit the GeNIe program.

Let us learn how to start GeNIe first.

A typical installation of GeNIe will place a shortcut for itself in the Start Menu for Windows.

To start GeNIe follow these steps:

  1. Click on Image:startbutton.jpg located in lower left corner of the screen.
  2. Select Programs Menu .
  3. Select GeNIe 2.0 in Programs menu.
  4. Click on Image:GenieIcon.jpg to start the program.

Please note that the menu you will see in your screen may be different than the one displayed in the image above. This is because you will have different programs installed than the ones installed on the system used for generating the image shown above.

GeNIe will display a splash screen for a few seconds and then display its main interface shown below:

Now GeNIe has completely started.

Lets us learn how to exit from GeNIe.

You can exit GeNIe in any of the following ways:

Click on the Image:CloseButton.jpg located at the top right of the GeNIe window.

Click on File menu in top left of the GeNIe window and select Exit . It is the last option in the menu.

Use the Alt+F4 shortcut. [Press the ALT key and the F4 key on the keyboard simultaneously.]

If there are any changes to the currently opened model that have not been saved, GeNIe will give you a warning by means of the following dialog box:

Image:SaveWarn.jpg

If you want to save the changes that you have made, click on the Yes button or press Enter; if you want to disregard them, click on the No button. If you have second thoughts about exiting the program, click on Cancel.

As you probably do not have any model open right now, you may not get the above warning box. You will learn more about saving and loading models in the Loading and Saving Models tutorial.

This concludes the Starting and Exiting GeNIe tutorial. You may close GeNIe now. This will also close this Help window. When you come back you may start with the next tutorial.
