The Format toolbar is a bar with buttons that offer quick mouse shortcuts for commands that help in refining the aesthetic aspects of the Graph view. It can be made invisible using the toggle command Toolbar / Format on the View menu. It can be also moved to any position within QGeNIe application window. To move the toolbar from a locked position, click on the vertical bar at the left edge of the toolbar and drag it to its destination.
Note: All operations performed using the Format Toolbar are applicable to the currently selected item in the Graph View. All new items created follow the current settings on the Format Toolbar.
Note: All operations performed using the Format Toolbar are applicable only to the Graph View. The Tree View cannot be changed using the Format Toolbar.
The following buttons are available on the Format Toolbar.
- Font Properties Buttons
Font Face List lets you select the font for the text displayed in the text box or the node icons from the installed fonts on the system.
Font Size lets you select the point size of the font to be displayed in the text box or the node icons.
Bold Font Style changes the text style to Strong/Bold type.
Italics Font Style changes the text style to Italics type.
- Text Justifying Buttons
Text Left Justify justifies the text to the left.
Text Center Justify justifies the text to the center.
Text Right Justify justifies the text to the right.
- Color Buttons
Background Color is used to select the background color for the interior of the node/submodel icons.
Text Color is used to select the color for the text displayed within the node/submodel icons or in the text boxes.
Line Color is used to select the color for the boundary lines of the node/submodel icons.
The color selection procedure for the following buttons is similar to the color selection in the Format tab of Node Properties Sheet. See the Color Selection section of Node Properties Sheet for more information on selecting colors.
Line Width is used to select the width of the boundary lines of the node/submodel icons.
- Node/Submodel aligning Buttons
The following operations can be alternatively performed by selecting the corresponding option in the Layout Menu. At least two nodes must be selected for the following commands to be active.
Align To/Left [
] Aligns the leftmost points of the selected nodes to one vertical line.
Align To/Right [
] Aligns the rightmost points of the selected nodes to one vertical line.
Center Horizontally [
] Aligns the center points of the selected nodes to one vertical line.
Align To/Top [
] Aligns the topmost points of the selected nodes to one horizontal line.
Align To/Bottom [
] Aligns the bottom points of the selected nodes to one horizontal line.
Center Vertically [
] Aligns the middle points of the selected nodes to one horizontal line.
At least one node must be selected for this option to be active.
Aligns the center points of the selected nodes to the nearest crossing of the grid lines. The following 2 options will be active only if 3 or more nodes are selected.
Distributes evenly the selected nodes horizontally between the position of the farthest nodes.
Distributes evenly the selected nodes vertically between the position of the farthest nodes. The following 2 options will be active only if at least one node is selected.
This command brings the selected node to the front if it is overlapped by other nodes.
This command brings to front the nodes overlapped by the selected node.
